It is said that it was originally called the Olive Temple and later became the Olive Nok Temple. Because another temple had been built in the same district. But it's in the Bangkok Yai canal. The villagers called the new temple Wat Makok Nai (Wat Nuan Noradit) and then called Wat Makok Nai, which is at the mouth of the Bangkok Yai Canal, Wat Makok Nok. As for the reason the name was changed to Wat Chaeng, it is believed that when King Thonburi established the capital. In Thonburi in 1767, he arrived in front of this temple at dawn.
