Museum worthy piece !

For Sale is a original 1930s English one piece bathing suit.

Made by 'Meridian interlock' - first patented 1928 as a stretchy wool knit, composing of a 'all in one' suit - a 3 quarter length vest with stitched in shorts below. Two buttons on the shoulder to be allowed for easier wear.

Tagged size isnt present but this is a usually larger size for the times - fits best like a modern medium. It’s hard to say whether this is a men’s or women’s but the sizing of the time makes me think man’s. This style with the stitched in shorts was seen in both, so I think fair to say ‘unisex’ . I’ve shown it on a female mannequin.

A slimmer cut large could get away with it - I’m a 42” chest and 34” waist and it works well on me. I also think this could be suitable worn by a women’s large, around a UK 12-14

For more accurate measurements, Like pit to pit, hips, or length on back etc, see photo's.This fabric is a knit stretch with a bit of give to wear fitted.

Good vintage condition - Considering this is a antique piece of swimwear - these is one small hole as shown last image towards a side that could easily be repaired with a stitch.
