This vintage Hutschenreuther Selb porcelain jar is a rare find. With a beautiful printed floral design and domed lid, it makes for a stunning decorative piece. Measuring 27.5cm in height and 13.5cm in width, it is a perfect addition to any collection of decorative cookware and tableware or decorative pieces. Practical and beautiful.   Crafted in Germany in, I think, the 1960s judging by the mark, using traditional pottery techniques, this jar is a testament to the skill and artistry of its makers. Its classical shape and decoration taken from the 1719 botanic engravings of Michael Bernhard Valentini's Viridarium Reformatum, adds to its appeal and makes it a unique piece for collectors. Whether you're looking to add to your porcelain collection or simply admire its beauty, this Hutschenreuther Selb jar is sure to delight.  I have only seen one other acutioned recently in Portugal in pattern 9916, with a landscape scene also from Valentini's Viridarium Reformatum. As Valentini was a German engraver, perhaps these pieces were created to celebrate an anniversary? This is just a guess.
