Vintage Enesco porcelain ginger jar, decorated with a pair of colorful birds perched in front of blooming flowers, ringed by gold bands and topped with a pink floral sprig on the domed lid!
Ginger jars were used to store and carry spices and herbs such as salt and ginger in ancient China. When the form came to Europe, it began to be called a "ginger jar". Over time, they have become more of a decorative piece than for storage.
