In order to maintain the image of the merged railroad company, UP (Union Pacific Railroad) repainted six EMDSD70ACe locomotives from 2005 to 2006 with heritage paint that resembled the image of each railroad company, and the hull numbers were changed to reflect the respective railroad companies. The year the company merged was assigned.
Missouri Pacific Railroad (MoPac) #1982, Western Pacific Railroad (WP) #1983, Missouri Kansas Texas Railroad (MKT) #1988, Denver & Rio Grande Western Railroad (D&RGW) #1989 , C&NW (C&NW) was assigned car number #1995, and Southern Pacific Railroad (SP) was assigned #1996. It is gaining popularity through exhibitions at events held in various parts of the United States and multiple consecutive runs of heritage paints.
All aircraft are still in use today, and are included in regular service, making them very popular and considered lucky items if you see them.
