HMS SEA EAGLE : Ships Tally.
HMS Sea Eagle was a Shore Base in Northern Ireland with quite a story. The Base was origionally a Army Barracks, Ebrington Barracks, in 1940 it was taken over by the Admiralty and named HMS Ferret. Being used by the Americans amongst others during the war and being an important cog in the Battle of the Atlantic. In 1947 it was renamed HMS Sea Eagle and was used as an Anti Submarine Warfare Trainging Establishment till the early 1970s when it was renmaed Ebrington Barracks and used during Operation Banner .
Another Tally from one of these little known Shore bases that we find around the world operated by the Royal Navy
Of interest is that politicians in Northern Ireland are suggesting a RN/NATO base be resetablished in Northern Ireland so would the 'ship' be recommisioned ?
