This fun watercolor over photo portrait of the 1870s comes in its charming original frame with deeply molded slats and 8 brass and glazed ceramic buttons.  Measuring 15 1/2" x 13 1/2" overall with octagonal lemon gold front reveal of 9 1/2" x 7 5/8" (7" x 5" reveal in paper mat) with 10" x 8" back opening, the frame retains dry original surface overall with some fly specking to the lemon gold and tarnishing of the brass.  There is some fading to the portrait which depicts a pleasant young man in his 20's sporting his first mustache.  There are no visible tears or bad stains and the glass is old with obvious bubbles and waves.  There is a chip the wood on the back as pictured and the old wood back was replaced with paper some time ago.
