RARE, VERY LARGE 19th. CENTURY FRENCH HAND PAINTED,
SIGNED & DATED PORCELAIN PLAQUE
This is a beautiful quite large (I've not come across one larger) and rare, framed, hand painted, signed and dated porcelain plaque painted by A. Holt in 1884 (when I bought this I had some information of who he was, his work etc, however they now seem to be misplaced), after the painting ‘Charity’, by William-Adolphe Bouguereau (1825-1905), in Paris 1878. In the mentioned finely rendered porcelain painting, it is depicted with a lovely image of the Madonna and child with the young Baptist in a wooded, Arcadian setting. The frame is of a tooled and gilded serpentine form, while the reverse has an applied collector’s catalogue label, and various incised and written marks - see photographs and details. Unfortunately, I don't think the photographs do it justice as there is a lot more detail than the photos would indicate mark - see photographs and details.
It measures FRAME : 16 1/4" (41cm) H x 12 1/4" (31cm) W, PLAQUE : 12" (30.5cm) H x 8" (20.25cm) W approx; and is in excellent condition with no defect at all to report, apart from some small gilded over gesso chips to the frame (largest to the lower right hand corner - see photographs and details.
This is a superb large piece of rare period hand painted, signed and dated porcelain plaque that's in lovely condition, which with a realistic, yet still low, start price should interest all collectors .

All items will be forwarded (nationally) special delivery post only and (internationally) insured express (tracked & signed for) post.
All consignments exceeding 2kg will be shipped via courier (usually ups), with a four day minimum dispatch time national & international, and five days for items via courier, but in reality I usually ship within two working days after cleared payment.
The shipping cost includes a small packaging and handling charge and therefore does not reflect postage alone.
RETURNS
Returns are accepted within 14 days with the return shipping cost at the buyer's expense.
Almost everything I sell is in the condition I have bought it, unless otherwise stated, (I have learnt to my cost in the past not to tamper with an item), and therefore I have neither had items repaired nor restored. I will endeavour to report on an item which has had either; however I take no responsibility if an item has been tampered with and I cannot detect it.
OVERSEAS BUYERSAs different countries have different import laws and regulations it is incumbent upon the buyer to know what these are in relation to what they are bidding on. Almost all items I sell are antique unless otherwise stated and therefore well within the import requirements of this country, but maybe a grey area elsewhere, so please take note no responsibility will be taken if a problem with customs occurs.

Items listed in an auction format are just that and not subject to 'buy-it-now' enquiries however I am willing to listen to any offer which are substantially over the start price. Please don't waste your time asking for a b.i.n. on an auction item as you may be offended by no reply.
PAYMENT
Payment must be made within 3 days from the end of the sale / or a buy-it-now sale failure to do so will mean the item will be offered to the under bidder and a report to eBay.
I can accept payment via PayPal, cheques drawn on UK banks or UK postal orders - I can accept other forms of payment please contact me to find out which. I will dispatch goods on clearance of any of the above.
