Die 2024er Kiwi Münze wurde von der New Zealand Post aus einer 1/4 Unze 99,99% reinem Gold geprägt. Das von Stevan Stojanovic entworfene Motiv zeigt die Darstellung eines Großen Fleckenkiwis (Apteryx maxima) am Ufer des Rotoiti-Sees im Nelson Lakes National Park. Das Design enthält außerdem die Inschrift "ROROA GREAT SPOTTED KIWI Apteryx maxima" und den Nennwert. Auf der Rückseite sind das Porträt von König Charles III mit den Aufschriften "NEW ZEALAND", ".9999 Au .25oz", "CHARLES III" und "2024" abgebildet.

Der Große Fleckenkiwi ist auch als Roroa bekannt und zählt zu den größten in Neuseeland vorkommenden Kiwiarten. Sein natürlicher Lebensraum ist der Nordwesten der Südinsel, insbesondere die Nationalparks Kahurangi, Paparoa und Arthur's Pass. Am Ostufer des Rotoiti-Sees im Nelson Lakes National Park wurde durch das Rotoiti Nature Recovery Project (RNRP) ein 5.000 Hektar großes Waldgebiet geschaffen, in dem intensive Raubtierbekämpfung betrieben wird, um dem Roroa und anderen endemischen Arten eine sichere Heimat zu bieten. Heute leben etwa 50 Roroa an den Ufern des Rotoiti-Sees und in den umliegenden Buchenwäldern. Die Kiwi 1/4 Oz Goldmünze ist weltweit auf nur 500 Exemplare limitiert. The great spotted kiwi is also known as the roroa and is one of the largest kiwi species found in New Zealand. Its natural habitat is the north-west of the South Island, particularly the Kahurangi, Paparoa and Arthur's Pass National Parks. On the eastern shore of Lake Rotoiti in Nelson Lakes National Park, the Rotoiti Nature Recovery Project (RNRP) has created a 5,000-hectare forest area in which intensive predator control is carried out to provide a safe home for the roroa and other endemic species. Today, around 50 roroa live on the shores of Lake Rotoiti and in the surrounding beech forests. The Kiwi 1/4 Oz gold proof coin is limited to 500 pieces worldwide.
