This hard to find early 1900's Sarouk style hand woven wool on cotton gallery carpet shows dirt and wear and moth damage (see images) and is such a hard size to find it is still worth cleaning and repairing.  Measuring 154" x 66", it is MOSTLY rich, deep, squishy pile as shown with some areas of corroded browns and areas with white stitches? from an earlier foundation repair?  Most peculiarly, much of the back is fuzzy...so fuzzy the knotting is obscured.  I am guessing this was from an overly vigorous cleaning to eradicate the moth larvae as the carpet still has a notable chemical smell...but  I have never seen this before.  There is a 3 foot section of selvage loss near one corner and there is end border loss.  The field was never painted and it needs a professional cleaning.
