Loyal Order of Ancient Shepherds - A 1902 Cabinet Size Photograph of L.O.A.S. Members Signed By Edwin Crew

A cabinet size photograph showing a group of eight members of the L.O.A.S. wearing a variety of badges and regalia, with an attractive art nouveau style border which has been signed and dated “Faithfully Yours Edwin Crew Whitsun 1902”. Interestingly, it was an Edwin Crew who wrote the Society’s Centenary history in 1926, so may well be one of the same. Reverse of the card backed photo is blank.

The Society was formed in Lancashire in 1826, its objectives were to “relieve the sick, bury the dead and assist each other in all cases of unavoidable distress”
