Advert art by Charles Mozley

He taught anatomy, life drawing and lithography at Camberwell School of Art from 1938 to 1939. He was a Lieutenant-Colonel in military intelligence during the war, ‘involved in work on camouflage’. After the war he went freelance, producing book illustrations, film and theatre posters, book jackets and posters for Shell. He produced posters for British European Airlines Corporation through the agency Colman, Prents & Varley; a poster for ‘150 Years of Lithography’ for the Victoria and Albert Museum; and a mural for the festival of Britain. He produced some fine posters for Alexander Korda’s An Ideal Husband from Tony Wysard’s original rough.

This tartan-drenched historical drama about the Jacobite Rebellion charts one of the great escapes: Bonnie Prince Charlie's five-month flight from the English in 1746. The escape followed the Stuarts' vain attempts to regain the throne from the Hanovers which ended in a crushing defeat at Culloden.
