During World War I, an army private is accused of desertion during battle. The officer assigned to defend him at his court-martial finds out there is more to the case than meets the eye.
The main poster image is the famous photo of soldiers of an Australian 4th Division field artillery brigade walking on a duckboard track laid across a muddy, shattered battlefield in Chateau Wood, near Hooge, Belgium, on October 29, 1917. This was during the Battle of Passchendaele, fought by British forces and their allies against Germany for control of territory near Ypres, Belgium. The photo was taken by Frank Hurley (1885 - 1962), an official photographer with Australian forces during both world wars.
