THE EXTRAORDINARY WES ADAMS COLLECTION OF RARE WINCHESTERS, MARCH 3, 2012, OCTOBER 1, 2012, AND MARCH 11, 2013, JAMES D. JULIA, INC. AUCTIONEER, FAIRFIELD, MAINE. Hardcover includes beautiful glossy illustrations and close-ups. 420 pages. This was truly an extraordinary collection. In fact, it is one of the greatest Winchester Collections ever sold at auction. Wes Adams was a very industrious, smart, hardworking contractor who lived in Las Vegas, Nevada and who over the years had become very successful. He developed an incredible passion for firearms, particularly Winchesters and in a very short period of 10 years, put together one of the finest collections of Winchesters ever offered. His collection also included a small selection of truly rare and extraordinary Colt Revolvers and magnificent, outstanding collection of Savage firearms, one of the finest of its type to ever come to auction, and also a collection of very select high end Marlin firearms, again one of the finest groupings to come to auction. His extraordinary one-of-a-kind, relief, engraved, gold & nickel Winchester Model 66, estimated at $200,000-300,000 realized $300,900 and a special gold inlaid Winchester and gold inlaid and engraved Savage rifle, once made for the famous John Dodge (one of the Dodge Brothers who started the Dodge Automobile business) had a combined presale estimate of $300,000-425,000 but the two guns (which were sold separately) realized a total of $477,250. This huge, exquisite catalog is an absolute must for any serious firearms collector, particularly Winchester firearms collectors.  The Adams Collection was so massive and important that it was divided up and dispersed over 3 auctions which took place on March 3rd & October 1st, 2012, and March 11th, 2013.  This catalog was printed after the auctions, so everything offered in these various auctions were combined together in a special limited edition hardbound catalog to document Wes Adam’s truly spectacular collection.  This beautiful catalog is approximately 1-1/2” thick and is an extraordinary reference. The Julia Auction Company, which handled this collection, was world renowned for their quality firearms auctions and for many years regularly handled more high-end, rare and valuable firearms than any other auction house in the world.  This catalog was a special post auction hard bound catalog produced in limited number.  The catalog is absolutely gorgeous, and Julia’s catalogs were generally considered the finest in the industry. A brief look at this catalog clearly indicates why they were held in such high regard. It is filled with color images and close-ups.  Each lot carries a definitive description, including size, etc. together with an estimated presale estimate.  SIZE: Approx. 8-3/4” x 11-1/4”. CONDITION: Excellent, unused.
