SDA medium, Sabouraud Dextrose Agar | 250g

Sabouraud Dextrose Agar is a medium is a type of agar growth medium containing peptones. It is used to cultivate dermatophytes and other types of fungi, and can also grow filamentous bacteria such as Nocardia. It has utility for research and clinical care. 

Per 1000mL of SDA medium contains

Peptone                                            10g

Dextrose                                           40g

Agar *                                                15g

pH 5.6

Chloramphenicol                              50 mg   (Optional)

Gentamicin                                        25 mg   (Optional)

* Tissue Culture Grade | Gel strength (15g/L, 20°C) ≥1400g/cm2

Preparation

Weigh 65 g of SDA medium, dissolve in distilled or MQ water and make the final volume to 1L.  Autoclave at 121°C for 10 minutes.
