Historically Significant Individually Numbered Limited Edition Postcard

#91 - 1940 Miami Ethopian Clowns: Felix "Chin" Evans, Peanut Davis, George Brown, Albert "Buster" Haywood and several others (see reverse of card for complete list)

Series 2 postcard issued in 1992 by R.D. Retort Enterprises

Increasingly popular among collectors and serious baseball fans desiring vintage replicas of their favorites are postcards picturing greats, near-greats, journeymen and part-time players who appeared in the old Negro Leagues when Major League Baseball was a segregated game.

This individual postcard is from a scarce complete 100 postcard series depicting players, teams and game action of the old Negro Leagues. Each card is individually numbered 0503 of 10,000 sets with that number imprinted on the back of this card. (Our personal experience selling these 2nd series cards for more than a decade indicates the actual production may have been closer to 1,000 rather than 10,000 sets.)

Issued in 1992 by R.D. Retort Enterprises, the Negro League Legends postcards are not reprints in the strict sense of the term. ("Commemoratives" is a better descriptive.) Actually, most are original cards issued many years after the Black Leagues closed up shop. The players, their uniforms and equipment, and even the partial views of stadia sometimes seen in the background provide the collector with the briefest glimpse of that time long ago. It should be further noted that no Negro League card set was ever issued in the United States while the black leagues were in operation.

Each card measures 3-1/2" by 5-1/2" in size, features a nice sepia photograph and usually provides basic information about the player, team or scene on its post card reverse.

Shipping OPTIONS are available - YOUR CHOICE of either eBay standard envelope service (ESE) which is cheaper with slower delivery or USPS Ground Advantage (more costly for single cards but much faster delivery). We also offer UNLIMITED singles (up to and including 8X10 inches in size) shipped via Ground Advantage for the one card rate. Both services include insurance but USPS Ground Advantage is considerably quicker, with fewer limitations.

Condition: Excellent-Plus/Near Mint or better - check the high-resolution scans, front and back. Note: a blue background has been used to assist in evaluating the card corners and edges. This card was taken directly from a factory-sealed set.

Following is a checklist of the 100 cards contained in R.D. Retort's 1992 Negro League Legends (Series 2). Only the card in the listing title is offered in this listing.
