This clever adapter allows you to use hundreds of Canon FD, many FL and other FD/FL manual focus lenses on your Olympus Pen, OM-D or Panasonic G-series Micro Four Thirds mirrorless digital camera. Infinity focusing is maintained, and as there's no extra glass required the image sharpness is not affected. While there are many FD-MFT adapters available from the Far East, this one is much more solidly constructed in Europe with no moving parts, and easier to use with no diaphragm ring required. The adapter is in fully working order and good condition, supplied with Canon front and generic rear caps plus comprehensive instructions. Please read the full description for more important compatibility information.

You can use manual focusing in aperture priority automatic or metered manual exposure modes, with stopped down metering. You set the aperture on the lens, and on auto the camera sets the shutter speed automatically. Many MFT cameras have image magnification and/or focus peaking options which can make manual focusing easier. To ensure wider compatibility some lenses may focus slightly beyond infinity, and the distance scales may then not be as accurate. Because of the smaller sensor in these digital cameras the field of view is reduced. A 50mm lens provides the same image size as a 100mm on the original film cameras, a 70-210mm zoom has the same field of view as a 140-420mm, etc.

This adapter has an unusual but very effective mounting and full manual diaphragm control system, instead of the fiddly Open <> Lock ring used on most generic adapters. Mounting lenses is actually much easier to do than to describe, but illustrated instructions are provided. A similar system is used on the expensive Novoflex FD adapters and some focal reducers. You can either fit the adapter to the lens first then bayonet the combination onto the camera, or fit the adapter to the camera first and then attach/remove multiple lenses as required.

The adapter locks securely onto the camera and is released using the button on the body, and lenses are removed using either their own release button or breech lock ring. The main body is milled from a single piece of aluminium (finished in black) plus a stop screw for the MFT mount. The rear part is straight and could be used for a custom tripod collar (not included). There's a ribbed section inside the rear to reduce reflections, and this has been painted with matt Black 2.0 for even greater effectiveness. The adapter adds around 23mm (under 1") to the length of the lens when attached, is up to 60mm (2.3") in diameter and weighs approximately 40g (1.5oz). The adapter was made in Poland by ciecio7 (now C7Adapters), and these days the company makes mostly expensive adapters for cinema cameras.

An essential accessory for Micro Four Thirds digital cameras and many Canon manual lenses.

Compatibility

This adapter is for fitting Canon FD and many FL lenses onto Micro Four Thirds mirrorless digital cameras, as follows:

Camera Compatibility
The adapter fits MFT (m43, u43, m4/3) cameras such as the Olympus Pen E-P series and Pen-F, OM-D series and Air A01, Panasonic Lumix DMC G, GF, GH, GM and GX series, OM Systems OM-series, plus the Kodak Pixpro S-1 and YI M1. As Micro Four Thirds is a multi-manufacturer standard it should also be compatible with any future models.

Suitable digital video models include the Blackmagic Micro Cinema, Micro Studio 4K, Pocket Cinema and Pocket Cinema 4K cameras, Panasonic AG-AF100 series, plus the Z Cam C1, E1 and E2, etc.

Please note that it's NOT suitable for Olympus, Panasonic or Leica Four Thirds (FourThirds, 4/3) digital SLR cameras, Panasonic S L-Mount full frame mirrorless digital cameras, any film SLRs, digital models with fixed lenses, any other makes or models.

Lens Compatibility
The adapter accepts most Canon FD (breech lock or bayonet) and many FL manual focus lenses for 35mm film SLR cameras, plus independent lenses in these fittings. These lenses were originally used on classic cameras such as the F-1 series, FTb, AE-1, T70, FT and many others.

Please note that it's NOT suitable for Canomatic R lenses for the Canonflex series or some FL lenses that have a raised section on the rear mount, AC lenses for the T80, EF lenses for EOS cameras or any other types.
