The deck, created by Nicola Allan, consists of 44 large-format cards, each one featuring an original, hand-painted illustration. It has been created around two ancient systems of measuring time; The Wheel of the Year, which has its origins in pagan festivals celebrating the seasons and cycles of the Earth, and the zodiacal system of decans, which divide the sky into 36 ten-degree sections, each with their own unique energy and story.
Instead of a physical guidebook, there are four additional companion reference cards. These depict the meaning of each card, enabling the user to read the deck intuitively, with just a little bit of extra support. The cards are packaged in a tuck flap box made from G.F Smith Colorplan card. The deck are printed locally to the creator, in Scotland! Each of the 44 cards features an original, hand-painted illustration and are printed onto 350gsm card stock. They have a gold foil design detail on the back, measure 126mm x 88mm and are protected by a matte, anti-scuff laminate for easy shuffling.
The deck comes with a cairngorm tweed card pouch.
