In today's modern era, it has never been more crucial to ensure the safety of vulnerable populations, in particular Black individuals, in custody. Further study is required to implement best practices and strategies that improve protection. Examining Black Deaths in Custody and Solutions for Social Justice describes the actions that lead to the death of Black people while they are in the process of being detained by a law enforcement agent or are already detained. This publication focuses on three core countries, America, Australia, and South Africa, where Black deaths in custody appear to occur at higher rates. Janelle Christine Simmons earned her B.A. in psychology from Michigan State University. She went on to earn her M.A. in Forensic Psychology from John Jay College of Criminal Justice, an M.Div. from Torch Trinity Graduate School of Theology and and Ed.S. in Curriculum and Instruction from Liberty University and an Ed.D. in Educational Leadership from Liberty University. Dr. Simmons is actively looking for a post-doctorate fellowship or a full-time lecturer position to apply what she has learned thus far.
