Large oil painting signed Dixon - Mining Industrial Northern Art - coal colliery

I am looking to sell an interesting and large oil painting on a wooden board showing what looks to be a coal colliery against bright blue skies, someone may be able to identify the location from looking at it. A nice example of vintage industrial art and quite a statement piece, possibly dates to the 1950s or 1960s. It is also housed in a very nice looking frame which compliments the painting well although it has some moulding losses. The painting has been painted on a piece of thin plywood (or similar) that the artist looks to have previously mixed paints etc. on the back of it, see photos. Pencil name Dr. Ben written on the back, possibly the previous owner, also asks that the painting requires varnishing.

It is a really nice looking painting and still displays well, however it may benefit from a light clean due to age and being dusty. The wooden ply like board it is painted on has a slight bow in it at the bottom, which I am sure could be easily remedied if a backing board was applied, still displays OK as it is  in my opinion, please see photos. Frame has some marks / scores / scuffs / chips / molding losses from age, but is basically as shown. Frame may have been repainted in the past, please judge for yourself on it. What you see is exactly what you receive, I will also ensure it is packed well so that it arrives with any new owner safely.

Size & Weight:

Measures approx. 33 ¼” wide by 26 ¼” high (framed)

PLEASE NOTE - Some frames are very old and fragile. As such, the ornate work can come loose when sent. My auctions are for the paintings / artworks / images only and NOT the frames - the frames are a bonus and sent free with the painting / image. I do make every effort in my packing to ensure that the painting and frame will arrive in good condition.

Please note that any international postage will be through eBay global shipping and I have no control over these costs, please note this prior to bidding.
