This 2 coin set contains an Uncirculated 1998-S Robert F. Kennedy Commemorative Silver Dollar, along with a Uncirculated 1998-S Kennedy Silver Half Dollar struck with a matte finish. This special Half Dollar was only made available from the U.S. Mint in this unique set and, with approximately 62,000 sets sold, has the lowest mintage of the series. The matte finish requires two extra steps in the minting of the coin: sandblasting the face of the coinage die with a mixture of glass beads and aluminum oxide, and adding a hard-chrome plate to the die for hardness and lubricity. Both coins were released in 1998, were produced at the San Francisco Mint, and contain 90% Silver. The set comes with the original government packaging and certificate of authenticity.
