Author Biography

Charles Merrell, a former appraiser & jewelry designer is now an artist & writer. This was his first children's book; he has another - Sammy Snail teaches counting. He has also been known to tell stories about Willy the Worm & Ruthie the Duck Lady. Ruthie was a real person, a friend of his in New Orleans. Charles is currently working on a New Orleans cookbook & a non fiction book called Forgotten & Unsung Heroes. He also has plans for more children's books. All his previous writing has been on more technical topics involving gemology, appraisal techniques & marketing. As for his qualifications to write children's books, one way he describes himself is a 9 year old trapped in an old wrinkled body. He lives, writes & paints in New Orleans.
