1928 (c. 1930) Dixon's Novelties #2 Mickey Mouse Rookie Card

One of the only copies known, graded CSG (CGC) 4.5 & listed in UK tobacco reference books as 1928

I discovered this treasure on eBay UK several years ago and have not found a single additional copy since. There is no record of it (and no images) on Google or anywhere else on the internet. The Dixon's Novelties cards are listed in UK trade books under the year 1928, but the folks at CSG labeled it "c.1930s," though I suspect 1929 or 1930 might be more accurate. Mickey famously appears playing the banjo at the start of the immortal 1929 cartoon "Wild Waves," in what was just the 15th Mickey Mouse short ever produced. Importantly, a 1929 or 1930 year of production would predate the popular 1931 W.D. & H.O. Wills #24 Walt Disney with Mickey Mouse card, largely recognized as American icon's first cardboard collectible. Even if the Dixon's set can be traced to a later year, it still ranks among The Mouse's first-ever cards and without question one of his rarest.
