All of our chains are delivered open and include a chain lock.
This type of chain belongs to the class of sealing ring chains, which means that the individual chain links are sealed by rubber sealing rings. This means that the trapped grease cannot escape and dirt and water cannot penetrate as easily. This means a longer service life and higher mileage is possible. You don't have to re-lubricate the chain as often and you don't have to re-tension the chain as often. However, due to the sealing surfaces, the chains are slightly wider and there is more friction than with chains without any sealing rings, which is usually only interesting in racing when chasing the last tenth of a second. An advantage of this X-ring chain is significantly less friction loss compared to O-ring chains. The double sealing of the chain links by the X-ring enables less running noise and very high mileage. Special X-ring shapes from DC and afam are even resistant to sand and mud.

Which chain to buy and how to compare the prices?
It is not worth buying a cheap, weak chain as it wears out quickly and also makes the sprocket and chainring unusable. So you haven't saved anything and can do the work again. On the other hand, it is not necessary to install a very strong chain on a weak motorcycle, as the potential of the chain cannot be used at all.
A chain should therefore always be chosen with at least the quality of the original chain. An important indication here is the tensile strength, which indicates how much force the chain can withstand without breaking. The higher the tensile strength, the higher the quality of the material used and the better the quality of the chain.
In addition to the sealing ring, weight and color, a price comparison can be carried out reliably based on the tensile strength, which is why we always indicate the tensile strength of all our chains and deliberately avoid the usual marketing slogans such as reinforced, double reinforced, ultra reinforced, etc.
