Although we make sure each piece is cleaned very well, soaking or boiling is recommended by some before placing in your aquarium/aquascape & others place it in there tank right away and let their Shrimp and snails go to town cleaning/ devouring the fuzzy looking stuff that's called biofilm.

Moreover,some pieces may not sink right away and may need an additional duration of time to soak until the wood is "waterlogged." We have seen a few of our loyal customers anchor down by placing a heavy rock on it in their aquarium or they'd mount the piece to something heavy, such as slate rock, to ensure the piece won't float their aquarium.

All pieces we attain come from dead-standing or cut stumps left in the ground from many many years ago. The land owner of 45 plus years has never cleared the property and has left it very natural. we are beyond grateful for the opportunity of access of this ranch where we have been even more blessed to find this rare type specifically endemic to the central sierra nevada foothills.***
