Born in Redondo Beach, Merritt attended Redondo Union High before he moved on to El Camino College and eventually the ArtCenter College of Design in Pasadena and the Famous Artists School in Westport, Connecticut. After four years in the Army, Merritt returned to the South Bay and began his work as a freelance illustrator in the early 1960s. He was a much loved local artist who captured wonderful scenes in both California and Maine. Later in his career, he was president of the Society of Illustrators and co-founded the Los Angeles chapter of the Graphic Artists Guild.

Size- 16 by 220 inches approx 

Medium- Oil on canvas.

Frame- Unframed. 

Condition- We would be very happy to hang this one as found. Generally decent however some varnish browning tand light craqueleur/separation visible. Some frame abrasion. 

Signature- Lower left.
