ARTIST: Carl
Wennemoes is a well-listed Danish artist, whose works have been offered at
auctions multiple times, including famous auction houses such as Bonham’s,
Christie’s and Bruun Rasmussen. He exhibited both in Denmark and in Sweden. He graduated
from the Royal Academy of Art in Copenhagen. Wennemoes was born Jørgensen but changed
his name in 1917. He went on several study trips to f.ex. Switzerland, Germany,
Italy and Paris. He specializes in landscapes. Rudersdal museum in Denmark has
a fine collection of his works.
PAINTING:
Oil on canvas. The painting is a soft, impressionistic rendering of an autumn
scenery with a shed or shelter to the left and a wetland area to the right.
Trees and leaves dressed in Autumn colors dominate the scene. The painting is
dated to 1925. Signed: “C Wennemoes” in the lower right corner.
SIZE: With frame: 59 cm/23.2" * 45 cm/17.7". Without frame: 48,5 cm/19.1" * 34,5 cm/13.6".
CONDITION: The painting is in great ready-to-hang condition - no holes, tears or missing paint. The frame has scratches and stains.
