Evaluation of Exposures Associated with Cleaning and Maintaining Composting Toilets ? Arizona

The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) received a request for a health hazard evaluation at a national park in Arizona. Management submitted the request because of concerns about exposures to employees cleaning and maintaining pit and composting toilets. The request also asked for an evaluation of personal protective equipment (PPE) use. This document summarizes the NIOSH's evaluation and recommendations.
