The Eight Immortals (??, Baxian) are a group of legendary figures in Chinese mythology and folklore. They're popular in Chinese culture and have been subjects of numerous stories and artworks over the centuries. Each immortal has a unique power that can be transferred to a power tool, and they can bestow life or destroy evil. Though they're generally considered Daoist figures, their stories and representations have permeated various aspects of Chinese culture.

Here's a brief overview of the Eight Immortals:

Lu Dongbin (???): Often considered the leader of the group, he is usually depicted with a fly-whisker and a sword that has the power to slay dragons and demons. He's also regarded as a scholar and healer.

He Xiangu (???): The only female among the Eight Immortals, she is typically shown holding a lotus, symbolizing purity and enlightenment.

Cao Guojiu (???): Recognizable by his imperial court dress and a pair of jade tablets, which can purify the environment when shaken.

Li Tieguai (???): Often portrayed as an old, lame man with an iron crutch (which gave him his name, "Iron-Crutch Li") and a gourd, which releases medicinal smoke that can heal and revive the dead.

Lan Caihe (???): Often depicted as androgynous or trans, they carry a bamboo flower basket. Legends vary about Lan Caihe, but in some, they're shown as a beggar who sings songs with profound meanings.

Zhang Guolao (???): Portrayed as an old man with a white mule, which can cover great distances in a short time and can be folded up like paper when not in use. He's also associated with a bamboo drum that brings the dead back to life.

Han Xiangzi (???): A patron of musicians, he is usually shown with a flute. He is also believed to be the grandnephew of a Tang Dynasty Confucian scholar.

Zhongli Quan (???): Recognizable by his large belly and fan, which has the power to resurrect the dead and transform stones into silver or gold.

The Eight Immortals frequently appear in Chinese literature, art, and folklore. They represent various aspects of society and are often invoked collectively in Daoist rituals, symbolizing longevity, health, and resistance against evil.
