In this listing we are offering an example of a pleasing & interesting iron toy safe bank. This bank is the design which has two panels on the door, & two panels on the sides, & two panels on the top.  This bank is known in two different versions. This is the version with pierced holes in the back casting. An example of this bank is pictured & numbered 035 in the classic "Safe Bank Book" by Michael Holz. In the safe bank book the date of manufacture is listed as circa 1890. The maker is listed as being either Grey Iron Casting Co. which was located in Mount Joy, Pa. or Reading Hardware Company which was located in Reading, Pa.

This example is all original including the original top to bottom center bolt & the complete & intact working lock inside of the door. There are a few small areas of light surface rust on the top & on the back panel. These minor spots could be easily removed by the new owner, if desired. But, we have chosen to leave this just as we found it. The bank shows some wear to the original green & black painted finish. But, the major majority of the original painted finish is present. A lovely rich patina has developed from use. There are no chips, no cracks, & no repairs. The original antique key, which functions very well, is present & is included. The bank measures 3 5/8 inches tall by 2 5/8 inches wide by 2 3/4 inches deep. The weight is 14.4 ounces.

Please examine the photos closely and purchase based on your own judgement as to condition and value.
