Product description

This item is a hand-held medicine box from a wealthy merchant and samurai family, made of a wooden Keyaki from the late Edo period, with old metal fittings. It is exactly the same size as the Senryobako, but since it opens and closes by pressing the metal fittings on the entire surface, we believe that it is a treasured item that was used as a handheld medicine box at the time. The several senryo boxes that we had in our collection are different from these because they have anchor fittings in places and are attached to locks. Therefore, please understand that this is a handheld medicine box from a wealthy merchant samurai made of wood from the Edo period. This item conveys the atmosphere of the Edo period through its aged appearance. I think the material is zelkova, such as Senryobako. It has some weight. By the way, regarding the dimensions of your item, please refer to the approximate width of 42 cm, 22 cm, and height of 17 cm. This collection of very old wooden hand-held medicine boxes has generally deteriorated over time, but due to the material, there is little damage such as insect bites, and the finish is strong and does not warp. We also hope that you will understand and accept this as a proof of the scenery typical of period wooden boxes. The word solder is engraved on the top metal fittings and inside, so we appreciate your interest.
