Antique English Spiral Inscribed Cow Bone Lace Bobbin

Circa 1850 * by James Compton

This antique cow bone (bovine)* lace bobbin has a spiral inscription, A PRESENT FROM MY MOTHER MARIA NOBES. It was made by James Compton (see pp. 27-29 of Christine & David Springett's Success to the Lace Pillow) and has his distinctive style and clear lettering.

The spangle contains a nice set of antique handmade glass beads and it measures 5 1/2" long. The condition is excellent with no chips, cracks or other damage and the lettering is still nice and bright.

*This item is made of bone from a domestic cow (bovine) and NOT from an endangered species or an ivory producing species.

I stand behind everything that I offer and guarantee that it is exactly as presented.
