These 2 cast copper alloy figures of greyhounds from the late 1970's were cast after originals created by France's premiere animalier sculptor Pierre Jules Mene (1810-1879) and have been used as bookends in a fine Indiana estate for the last several decades..  Each measures 6" tall on its ornate ovale 8" x 4 1/2" base and display a shiny dark (almost black) patina with spots of verdigris and quite a bit of dust in the details.  The hounds are gracefully posed and are bolted to the base; they wiggle a bit (firmly attached) and the nuts will need to be tightened.  Well made, the pair weigh 9 pounds before packaging.
