Alexis is a 9 year old girl who got the idea for this book from her stuffed animals and from the Magic Tree House series. It took a long time to write the story because she got stuck on the storm chapter and wasn't sure how to continue the story. But then she got a great idea and knew how to end it. She also recommends the Magic Tree House series by Mary Pope Osborne. The characters Kate and Abby are based on Alexis and her little sister Kaitlyn.
