The Boy and The Tower

by Nigel Shindler

The Boy and The Tower The boy stood in front of the tower, all alone, He could feel the power within; Then wondered; where everyone else was? Who cares, he thought, after all, I'm the boss. There is a world filled with everything you could possibly need. You are a seed that grows and grows. One day, who knows, maybe you'll know it all, Then, in totality, you'll be whole, complete, At the same time, unique; You! Others are far, but you don't need them. You have you; all you need. There are you in the shadow, in the light; awake at dawn and night. Everything is awakened to the surroundings you have Around you. The beauty of it all dances with sweet delight. On angel's feet, you take to flight. There it is above in heaven; bright light! There is never a fallen night. It's perfect, it's right. Everything is good once again, There is no pain, nothing more to gain. You had it all in the beginning. Only at the end did you realize this. No longer is there a hiss. The serpent has disappeared; All that is left is a kiss.

Author Biography

When I think about the story of my life I realize the most important ingredients are provided in the beginning; I've been blessed to have lived a life populated with people from a diverse array of backgrounds from a young age. Reading was the place I first place my family had a home in England; Liverpool, however, seemed far more my home due to the people there who enriched my life in so many ways. Some of my fondest memories are a clothing store in downtown Liverpool where my relations congregated. The air was typically stuffy in this locality; dust was often seen floating in the air; countering this murkiness, were plenty of smiles, handshakes, and shillings quietly tucked in a back pocket, that could brighten even the dreariest rainy day. My Grandmother and Auntie Jessie visited here often, and would chat while they sipped cups of tea and nibbled away on biscuits. I remember my Uncle Jackie whose cheeks were always the colour red, whether he was laughing, smiling, or disheartened; these were people I loved being around, and treasured the opportunity to listen to their stories, and I always knew they valued my company.
