Condition:                 Rich tonal image, clean, mount shows light aging, penciled signature and date on mount.

 

Other:                        A fine, uncommon example of the work of Louis A. Dyar showing a man (fisherman?) by a forest creek.  Born in Eyota, Minnesota, Dyar was an early active participant in the Pictorialist era having attended the Minnesota Law School, he graduated from the Yale Law School in 1902.  His work can be found extensively illustrated in many of the photo publications of the 1890’s through the 1920’s including The American Amateur Photographer, American Photography, Overland Monthly, and American Annual of Photography.
