Hey neighbor ,

This antique rolling measuring tool was used by blacksmith wheelwrights for measuring dimensions of different components for various parts of wagon building .

This tool consists of a rolling wheel marked off in inches , 0-24 . The starting point (0 inch) is marked with an X . Roll it one revolution and it measures out exactly 24 inches . It also has a movable pointer to set at different at different settings to extend the length being measured .

Although I donโ€™t know the details of exactly how this tool was used , it was an important part of the blacksmith/wheelwrightโ€™s tools .

This tool measures approximately 13 inches with the diameter of the measuring wheel is about 7 and 5/8 inches .
