SS AMES  VICTORY AK-235 Offered is a WW II Memorial Ship cover

postmarked December 5, 2011 at Ames, Iowa. This 455' merchant cargo vessel

that was was one of a large group of Victory Ships named for American Cities. 

This ship was launched on jan 23, 1945 by Oregon Shipbuilding Corp at Portland, OR

and named for the City of Ames, Iowa. Color printed photo cachet #2991 of Victory ship by Alvin Eckert,

#9964 USCS. Photo by the late George Barber. Cover franked with 3 cent Merchant Marine stamp # 939 from 1946

and a 44 cent American Flag stamp. Seller has covers for all the Allied Nations,
