The Union Army took repossession of Corinth Mississippi in October 1863 and this letter is dated October 25th. In it the soldier mentions the unfortunate incident in August when Colonel Florence Cornyn was shot dead by fellow officer Lt. Col. Bowen, and speculates that Bowen will be acquitted - which he was!
He also comments on the difficulties of life in the Calvary.
All in all - a very interesting letter.
