The Jaime Ortiz-Patino Collection -English 17th Century Chinoiserie Silver.

The catalog to an auction held in New York by Sotheby's on May 21st, 1992.

A superb collection of late Stuart silver decorated in the "chinoiserie" or "Japanese" style. The silver is spectacular, and what really sets this catalog apart are the superb color photographs, which include many detail shots, and the 24 pages of background essays, including "English 17th century Chinoiserie Silver" by Philippa Glanville and "The 'goose in a dotted circle'; a mystery of the seventeenth century investigated" by John Culme. Descended from a family of collectors (and also of Brazilian tin magnates) Jaime Ortiz-Patino spent 25 years collecting the finest examples of 18th century French and English silver available, and then sold much of his collection when he moved from Switzerland to London.

Hardcover. 8.5"x11", 72 pages, 20 lots, heavily illustrated in color, with several folding plates; some black & white; hardcover, dust jacket. Light wear.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR OVERSEAS BUYERS, PLEASE NOTE:

SHIPPING: To comply with Ebay’s policies, all packages are shipped using recorded/trackable methods and you should check the postage quotes before completing a purchase. Our International shipping charges are based on the weight, when packed, of each package -we offer “combined shipping charges” for orders for more than one item –this often means the shipping cost for the items is less than it would have been if they had been purchased and shipped one at a time, so please ask us for a shipping quote if you are thinking about buying more than one item. Thanks!

CUSTOMS CHARGES: Your post office may impose a customs charge on your incoming package, we have no control over this and no information about it, please check with your post office for more information. It is against U.S. law and Ebay rules for us to lie on the customs form about the value of packages, please do not ask us to do this.
