2 Antique Sterling Silver Thimbles

  American * Circa 1870-90

One of these sterling silver thimbles is by the Waite, Thresher Co. of Providence, RI. It has their star logo inside the top along with "Sterling" and the size (8). It has a wave scroll design on the narrow lower band. The smooth upper band has no personalization. This thimble is shown on p. 125 (plate 39-2) of Gay Ann Rogers' book American Silver Thimbles.

The other thimble has a wide smooth band marked with the size (7).  Inside the top is a Simons Bros. shield logo. It is not so marked, but tests solid sterling silver. It also has no personalization. The tiny logo and lack of silver mark indicate an early (1870s) Simons thimble. Both thimbles are in excellent condition with crisp designs and no holes, repairs or other damage.

I stand behind everything that I offer and guarantee that it is exactly as presented.
