This is an independent TTL auto bounce zoom AF flashgun for some early Canon EOS digital SLR cameras released up to around 2005 such as the EOS D30 and D60 (NOT 30D or 60D), 300D, 350D, 10D, 20D, 5D (original model only), EOS-1D or 1DS Mark I and II. It also works on Canon PowerShot digital cameras from the same era such as the G1 to G6, Pro70, Pro90 IS and Pro 1. The flash is in fully working order, good used condition, supplied with a copy of the instructions and Alkaline batteries. The bounce flash head tilts up to 90 degrees and swivels up to 330 degrees for bounce flash in horizontal or vertical positions, giving much softer, more natural lighting than direct flash. The zoom facility adjusts for lenses from 28mm and 35mm wide angle, through 50mm standard to 85mm (and longer) telephoto or equivalents. This gives longer range with telephoto lenses and better coverage with wide angles.

The guide numbers vary from 36m (117ft) at 85mm, through 34m (110ft) at 50mm to 27m (88ft) at 28mm and ISO 100. The auto ranges theoretically work up to 17m (56ft), but as with all flashguns actual range will depend on the conditions. TTL (Through The Lens) automatic exposure system works automatically in all modes including program. Switchable low power setting provided to reduce recycling time and avoid over exposure close up. Thyristor circuitry for faster recycling and more flashes per set of batteries.

There's a large AF illuminator on the front to assist focusing in low light. This operates automatically when required on selected cameras only. A comprehensive control panel provides distances from 0.5 to 30m (2 to 90ft), apertures from program (f/2.8) to f/16 and ISO from ISO 25 to 1000. There's a ready light and test button, plus an auto check light confirms correct exposure after the shot has been taken.

This independent Bower SFD35C flashgun measures approximately 137x76x60mm (5.4x3x2.4") and weighs under 300g (10.5oz) without batteries. It accepts 4x standard AA batteries including disposable alkaline (supplied), or NiCd and NiMH rechargeable types. There's a locking shoe fitting for secure mounting.

An excellent flash for several Canon EOS and PowerShot digital cameras.

Compatibility

This flash works with E-TTL dedicated auto flash control on some early Canon EOS digital SLR cameras released up to around 2005 such as the EOS D2000 and D6000, D30 and D60 (not 30D or 60D), 300D, 350D, 10D, 20D, 5D (original model only), EOS-1D or 1DS Mark I and II. It also works on Canon PowerShot digital cameras from the same era such as the G1, G2, G3, G5 and G6, Pro70, Pro90 IS and Pro 1.

We cannot guarantee it will work on EOS film cameras, any other digital models and it is certainly NOT suitable for the EOS 50D or anything later.
