A 19th Century double fold writing slope crafted by Cromack Brothers, 37 Ludgate Hill, London.

An interesting writing slope which unlocks from above to reveal a double fold mechanism.

After over 100 years of use the beautiful glossy walnut exterior is showing some signs of age. There are full width cracks to the left and right side of the lid with bumping to the corners and surface marking across the exterior. There is evidence of previous repairs. Please see the last six images.

The original key works the lock to reveal an interior containing black writing boards with two unusual paper inlays. Lifting the first board reveals a storage compartment, lifting the second board reveals a spring activated stationary rack.

Overall this is an intriguing writing slope.
