Antique RARE Nicol's 309 Boxing Striking Speed Bag Swivel Bracket June 12, 1900


For your consideration I am presenting this very rare and historical piece of boxing history. ANTIQUE NICOLS SPEED BAG SWIVEL No. 309.


This sale is for a great piece of nostalgia! NICOLS No. 309 PATENTED JUNE 12 - 1900 is imprinted on the base's bottom edge. The Nicols swivel for a boxer's speed bag was granted the patent for it's one-piece design "ball bearing" swivel. Revolver type, patented hollow ball, ball bearing design. Complete with S-hook attachment.Body is cast, with art deco filigree along the base.


It is in very good condition.


Nicols also made metal toys, the company being founded in 1883.This item dates to the early 1900's by it's patent date, as well as evidenced by a picture of the owner, my grandfather (b.1895, the young pugilist on the left as a teen,) practicing the sport on the farm outside Winfield, Ks.,shortly  before joining the Army in 1917 during WWI.
