This work, directed by Shinichiro Watanabe, is a truly ``Champuru'' combination of historical drama and hip hop elements.
Its innovative visuals and music captivated not only anime fans but also hip hop freaks.
It was a groundbreaking work at the time and is still highly acclaimed not only in Japan but also overseas.
