Blenko 517S Crystal with Turquoise 10" Handeled Console Bowl

An oldy, but a goody! The 517S, I believe, first appeared in the 1948 Catalogue, indicating that it was a design by Blenko's first designer, Winslow Anderson.

This kind of bowl came in three sizes - 3.5 inches high, 4.5 inches high and 5.5 inches high. The one for sale is the smallest 3.5 inches high version.

Similar to the 617s, The 517s were Crystal bowls with colored handles. This bowl's handled are Turquoise. Although not rare, I wasn't able to find any records for Crystal with Turquoise handles.

This would be a lovely edition to any Blenko collection, but especially for those who have a soft spot for pre-designer and earlier pieces! You can also see an example of this piece (though I believe it is the larger version in Amethyst, so technically a 617L) in the Eige book.

This item is in terrific condition. I note no chips, cracks, or flea bites and no glass sickness or staining. Slight base wear commiserate with age, but all in all, this item is in great condition considering its age!
