Description: It is an original copperplate antique map approximately 177 years old with embossed plate marks around the margins, blank on reverse, with original hand color outlining. This is from an enlarged edition with no centerfold, making it great for framing. It is from a circa 1849 Stieler's Hand Atlas, published in Gotha by Justus Perthes, a copy of the title page is included. The map is actually dated 1822, revised 1844 in the title area. Stieler's Hand Atlas appears in the top right margin. The map is not mounted, matted nor framed being sold as a single map as seen in the first pic.
Size: The map area measures approximately 12 by 14 inches (30x36cm) on a 14 by 17 1/2" page (37x45cm)
Condition: Good condition, blank on reverse, deckled top edge, embossed plate marks in margins, printed on heavy cotton paper with strong original hand color outlining as issued. There is a hint of dampstain on the bottom left corner and a few handling smudges in the margins, otherwise the map image is fairly clean with a nice antique appearance, see the pics. The pics are of the actual map, although the actual map looks better.
