David Crosby 1980s Ephemera Lot, Invitations, Letters, Signed Postcard
A
great lot of 1980s David Crosby paper goods that will excite fans and collectors
alike. Included is an invitation to "Croz's bachelor party from May 18,
1987, that is accompanied by a 4-page poem, written by Shel Silverstein, and
read by Wavy Gravy at the party. Next up is another invitation; this one is to
attend the November 19, 1988, release party of Crosby's "Long Time
Gone" autobiography. The lot continues with a signed 'Merry Christmas from
Jan & David Crosby' card (signed by Jan Crosby), and a promotional postcard
from 1988, nicely signed by David Crosby. Lastly, there is a set of three
unopened letters: one from 'Wooden Nickel,' the Italian CSN fan club, one from
New York politician Mark Green, and one unmarked letter.
This
lot comes directly from the private collection of Mac Holbert, who started in
the Spring of 1971 as an assistant truck driver and gopher for the Crosby &
Nash Tour. In 1973 he became Graham Nash's assistant and eventually tour
manager. He also managed tours for CSN, CSNY, Poco, America, Dwight Twilley,
Peter, Paul & Mary, and Carole King, and did so through 1991. After his
retirement from the road, Holbert continued his business relationship with
Graham Nash, as well as his friendship with this legendary trio of musicians.
This lot will include a Certificate of Authenticity, signed by Mac Holbert.
