Highly praised new edition of Cyan’s
second album

“Pictures from the Other Side” is the second album which mastermind Robert Reed (Magenta and others) released with the new line-up of his band Cyan in Autumn 2023. It originally came out on the SI Music label in 1994. This edition is a completely new recording with new arranged and extended 6 of the former 8 tracks. The new line-up of the band also features Luke Machin (The Tangent, Maschine, Karnataka), Peter Jones (Tiger Moth Tales, Camel u.a.) and Dan Nelson (Magenta, Godsticks).
This edition has a very good sound quality, excellent vocal arrangements by Peter Jones and Angharad Brinn and a magnificent orchestration wit strong guitar and keyboard sounds. Outstanding track for me is the epic long song “Nosferatu”.
The DVD contains the album as a pure audio version in Dolby Digital and DTS 5.1 surround sound. Furthermore it consists of “The Quiet Room Sessions”, a predominantly acoustic studio concert with 6 tracks of the preceding album “For King and Country”. There are also two promo videos of “Broken Man” and “Follow the Flow”. The DVD has a running time of around 130 minutes.

“Pictures from the Other Side” ist das zweite Album, das Mastermind Robert Reed (Magenta u.a.) mit der Neuformation seiner Band Cyan im Herbst 2023 herausbrachte. Es erschien ursprünglich 1994 bei SI Music. Diese Edition ist eine komplette Neuaufnahme mit neu arrangierten und erweiterten 6 der ursprünglichen 8 Tracks. Die Besetzung der neuen Band besteht daneben wieder aus Luke Machin (The Tangent, Maschine, Karnataka), Peter Jones (Tiger Moth Tales, Camel u.a.) und Dan Nelson (Magenta, Godsticks).
Die Edition glänzt mit einer sehr guten Soundqualität, exzellenten Gesangspassagen von Peter Jones und Angharad Brinn sowie einer hervorragenden Instrumentierung mit starken Gitarren- und Keyboardsounds. Herausragender Track ist dabei m.E. der epische Long-Track “Nosferatu”.
Die DVD enthält das Album als reinen Audio-Teil in Dolby Digital und DTS 5.1 Surround Sound. Daneben enthält es mit “The Quiet Room Sessions” ein weitgehend akustisches Studio-Konzert in Bild und Ton mit 6 Stücken des vorhergehenden Albums “For King and Country”.
