Split Cane Trout Fly Rod MONTAGUE BROWNIE 3 Piece 9’ 6” with End Plug

The rod does not have a Montague logo or name. It does have "Brownie Fly Rod" on the shaft. Prior to 1927, there were no "named" Montague rods just model numbered rods, which were only seen referenced as such in the catalogues. Some rods made for retailers, had names on the rods themselves. These names were the Varney rod, along with the Superb, Radio, Highgrade, Colorado Special, Steel Vine, Green, Brownie, Senate, and President, But these were not Montague model names.  The balance of the rods produced were just given numbers.

The rod shaft has some minor cosmetic scuffs and discolouration. The handle, fittings and eyes are all in good condition. The whipping is in generally good order except in one place. There is one end stopper present. The bag is unbranded, intact and free from holes but shows signs of previous repair.
